I bought these because it's nearly impossible to clean the deep sections of the Drinkwell with a wash rag. The brushes make the cleaning easier, but they still have their limitations. The large brush with the sponge on the end does an OK job, but it still cannot get the bottom corners. If Drinkwell made a 9-inch Q-Tip, it would be a perfect set. Maybe I'm just expecting too much.

They work alright, and do not scratch my drinkwell fountain as much as my first ones did (the ones made when the original drinkwell came out) But, I like the quality of my old brushes better. The bristles on these ones flattened out and some or most of the bristles fell off. Now, maybe it's just mine... All in all I will not re-purchase this cleaning kit. I think I would have better luck in going out and purchasing a baby bottle brush...

I cleaned my Drinkwell fountain JUST FINE with some pipe cleaners and thin brush similar to the mid-size brush included in this pack. The cleaning is 1x monthly, and about 10minutes of my time. Did you know the plastic is dishwasher safe? Just an idea.
I agree the corners down inside the tower are IMPOSSIBLE to clean thoroughly; the best way to keep it clean is to not let them get gunked in the first place- use your dishwasher 2x monthly to keep it pristine when you FIRST start using it.

I found these brushes to be completely unnecessary. They don't clean well at all and, with the tip not having bristles, it doesn't clean the bottom at all. I found that putting the fountain in the dishwasher and cleaning the motor out with a q-tip and paper towel works much better. It doesn't leave you with dirty, wet brushes to take care of and (most importantly) keeps your pet's water bowl cleaner, keeping them healthier.

I agree with other reviewers regarding the cheap design of these brushes. The brush content is thin and does not extend to the tips of the brushes therefore rendering them useless since the coated wire at the tip does nothing other than scratch along the surface of the fountain. They have now added a sponge to the large brush but here again, it is pulled between the coated wire leaving the wire tip exposed just like the other brushes. How hard is it to design a brush that does not have exposed coated wire tips and contains adequate brush material? Oh well, it's made in China. What do you expect. Probably costs the vendor a couple of dollars and he sells it to us pet owners at the jacked up price.
