"Yes, it's great, but there is a little room for improvement" 2009-09-13
By Deni R. (Illinois)
Yes, I do love this little thing. I can turn it on, sit back, and relax while it does all the work. It does really well if you have cats or dogs with their hair shedding. I use it daily for the cat hair. Here are some very MINOR downfalls:

Number 1: I have to be home when it is on, instead of using the pre-programmable cleaning schedule while I am gone at work. Why? Probably about 75% of the times I have used it, the little thing has gotten "caught" on something that it can not maneuver out of. It does shut itself down when that happens. Mostly it is the slipcovers that hang down over the sides of my couch - It seems like it get's caught on the cloth. But I am sure that I could address this by pulling up the slipcovers, if I wanted.

Number 2:It does require cleaning after each use. If you have as much cat hair (I have 3 indoor cats) as I have, you know how much cat hair can accumulate in the little thing each time.

Number 3: It really isn't all that quiet. Yes, you can still hear the television when it is on, but it is certainly not anywhere near as quiet as I thought it would be.

Number 4: It can not get into corners very well. It only gets to about 2 inches from the corner, then you have to go into the corner with a rag or other vacuum.

Even with the above 3 minor downfalls, I STILL HIGHLY RECOMMEND ROOMBA. To anyone who has allergies as I do, this little thing helps a lot. One great thing about it is that it gets under all your furniture that you normally would not do. I still love the little thing and am 100% happy I got it. I kinda wish I would have gotten the Scooba Roomba now, that washes the floor while it sweeps....

 "Great Product!" 2009-09-08

I have had this roomba for 2 years and absolutely love it! It does a very good job cleaning the floors, hardwood and carpet. It automatically goes over both areas without any problems. The only negative is the waste bin size. Have to empty it more often than I would like to but the most annoying thing (especially if you have a carpet) is cleaning the spinning brushes (two of them). They get very dirty very quickly which requires cleaning of the brushes after almost every use. Only takes about 5 minutes but takes a decent amount of work and getting dirty. I think this would be a less of an issue if you only had hardwood floors and this is why I gave it 4 stars instead of 5. Overall, I like the roomba very much - helps keep the dust away and is great for quick carpet cleanings if there is dirt, crumbs, etc.

 "Great when it works..." 2009-09-07
By A. Bagwell (Albuquerque, NM)
I've owned my Roomba 560 for approximately 18 months now.

The plus side is that when it works, it works great. I have a cat, and it's quite helpful in keeping cat hair off the floor in the major living areas. When the unit works, I'm often quite pleased with its performance and having a "freshly vacuumed" living room when I come home during the week.

The minuses, however, are too numerous to ignore.

Under the originally warranty, I'm on my THIRD replacement main unit and THIRD battery due to a variety of problems when either part either stopped working or developed a problem that couldn't be resolved and so was given a warranty return number. This despite the fact that I regularly clean the unit and empty the dust bin. Now that I'm out of my warranty period, the final unit is already showing signs of yet more mysterious problems where it simply stops working. I don't expect it will last more than a couple of months before it becomes useless.

Getting replacement parts whether through warranty or buying from the iRobot web site store is HORRENDOUSLY slow. I waited 2+ months for a single package of the little spin brushes that attach to the outside. Extra lighthouses (purchased within a month after I bought my Roomba) took 8 weeks to get to me. Typically warranty replacement items took well over a month.

In short, it was a great experiment while its continued to last, but I'll never buy a Roomba again. At least not until I've heard some reviews that major quality control improvements have been made in the design and they've made the robot far more reliable in standard day-to-day operation.

 "Great Product" 2009-09-02

I have two cat's; the Robot does a great job of collecting Cat hairs. Has performed flawlessly. My adult Cat is amused by the Robot but my Feral female kitten disappears when the Robot is performing. A great product to say the least.

 "iRobot a loser of a company" 2009-08-28
By Allen J. Ebens Jr. (SF, CA, USA)
Ordered from iRobot website, the order failed, I had to call to complete. Scooba arrived, worked once then failed. The customer service person was an idiot. Replacement part did not fix problem. iRobot never called as promised by email. After I called them and dealt with another moron in customer service, they are sending another scooba. Any bets if this one works?
