With three eagerly producing bartlett pear trees, the fall is a very busy time for drying at my house. When a cheaper model burned my crop last year, i knew that i needed a quality dehydrator....these pears are too good to waste. The Nesco harvest Snackmaster is just what i needed with top down air and lots of temperature control levels, i can get just the right drying and have yummy snacks for the rest of the year!

I have had both types of dehydrators, the kind that have a fan and blow the warm air and the kind with a coil and use convection. I had expected the blower type to cut down on drying time and while this product works well, I don't know that the fan adds value by reducing time. Addtionally, its kind of hot and perhaps its just over cautious, however I feel careless leaving it plugged in and on the counter overnight and with something like herbs even taking 24 hrs to dry, makes it necessary.

Wow! This is great. I can have healthy snacks without extra sugars, chemicals and preservatives. I'll finally be able to beat my junk food habit. This is the best thing I bought this year. It is easy to use and clean. It is not that noisy. I plan on using it regularly.

I purchased this dehydrator because I wanted to dry sweet potato slices for my dogs instead of buying them all the time and while it works wonderfully for that, I've found many more uses for it. I've kind of gone through a phase where I want to try drying all kinds of foods just to see how they'll turn out, and everything from applesauce leather to zucchini chips have come out absolutely delicious. The unit isn't too loud and is easy to clean. If you are looking for a dehydrator for your kitchen, I think you'll be happy with this.
