I've not experienced the majority of problems enumerated by numerous other reviewers of this product. It did take a bit of a learning curve to master the darn thing but once I got the hang of it, it has worked rather well. That combined with my Lab letting me know e.g., "too much pressure; my nail's getting hot!", or, "that's enough on that nail, move on" etc., I've pretty much mastered the proper pressure application of the thing. Now my Lab seems to look forward to both his daily brush as well as a "paw-dicure". Granted it doesn't have the grinding power of an expensive plug-in grinder and the file drums do tend to wear out rather quickly on his larger, thicker nails but it seems to do a fairly good job of keeping his nails trimed and rounded. I've experienced less accidental sharp nail scratches during our rowdy playtime since using the product. Although I did give the product only a three star rating, it works for me.

It worked Just fine for me and my small dog. Then again I have a chihuahua and a dachshund with Tiny black nails. No nail clipper, that I could find, could fit their tiny nails a/o was too big. PLus when their nails grow, they dont grow out straight, they curve. So its really hard for me to clip them.
CON: My only problem with this item is that its bulky and large that it was hard to adjust it to my doggies claw. If I didnt, the spinner would catch the nail and pull on the claw. It didnt hurt him/her but it did scared them. So I had to slowly and gradually file the nail down. I didnt want a FAST speed but this was a okay speed to file my babies nails, SLOW and carefully NOT speedracer rip my dogs nail off.
With its bulky size, I had to hold it in a odd angle or it shape the claws to a point, instead of round or desently round shape.
Also the smell of the nail got to me but thats what the air vent is for.
PRO: But this product did work well for me and my small dog. It filed the nails down and they came out smooth. I did like this product allot and will continue on using it.

The torque (strength, if you will) on this unit is so weak that barely touching my dogs nail causes it to stop dead. With the pressure, or lack there of, to keep the motor spinning it would take years to get my Rottweiller's nails done. Worse than useless because I had to get batteries just to see how bad this product is. For God's sake save your money and get some emery boards, they'd work better!

I am not so impressed with the Pedipaws I bought/received. It must be held in the left hand to work properly. When held with the right hand you cannot hold the handle like you are suppose to. It spins the wrong way, so the nail ends up being pushed under the protective cap when held like it is intended. I did one dog with the pedipaws and the rest with the old fashioned nail clippers. Thank goodness most of mine have some white nails!
