Great for cats and dogs, this fully automatic pet feeder features a tough plastic base that holds a food reservoir for food "on demand." The electronic pet feeder's simple, programmable electronics prompt the feeder to dispense portions from 1/4 to 3 cups at three selected times per day. The unit can be set to meet scheduled feeding times and amounts when caretakers are away, but it is not meant to replace human care--please be sure someone still visits the pet daily. The unit's hopper holds 10 pounds of food and accommodates a full range of dry food sizes, shapes, and types. The feeding bowl is removable for easy cleaning. Required batteries, which are not included, sustain a long battery life of six months. One-year limited warranty.

We bought 3 of these feeders for our 3 dogs. We work a 24 hour schedule so we either had to feed them once a day or get a petsitter. We chose to try these feeders and stick to 2 a day feedings. My husband ended up building a shelf so they weren't on the floor and dispensed into a stainless steel bowl that he cut into the shelf. Our dogs eat very fast and they did drag one to the ground and busted in. So we anchored them to the wall - fixed that! So after all our fixes our only compliant is the clocks. We synchronized them so they would all dispense at the same time but one of them seems to lag behind. We end up resynching them every few days.
We are happy with our solution. Beats paying someone to come over and feed them and keeps them on a schedule when we don't come home in time. They can't tell time but they sure know when its time to eat : ))

I bought the Petmate LeBistro 10 pound pet feeder for weekends away but decided to keep it on ALL of the time for convenience... And, oh, the excitement when that food is dispensed! Not from me, from my dog...! Anyway, I found it EASY to program, unlike some of the users whose reviews I read. Also, I've measured the portions dispensed and found them to be fairly accurate, perhaps a bit scant, so I do recommend checking once or twice after setup. And a low battery light dispels the worry of the unit not working. This item is a must-have for busy pet owners who work or travel!

I purchased this feeder in May of 2009, it has worked wonders at my house. I have 2 large and hungry cats, who had been in the nasty habit of loudly meowing at me 30-45 minutes before their feeding time, which annoying at 6:00 in the morning. Since I started using this feeder the cats don't associate me with feeding time any more, and have stopped asking me for food. The battery life is great on this as well, the instructions say to change every 60-90 days, but I am still on the first set of batteries. Also of note, I have a Border Collie and Yellow Lab and neither of them have been able to get into the reservoir. Only draw back is my cats did learn that if they are out of food in the bowl, they can shove their paws up into the feeder to release more food- similar to reaching inside a vending machine.

I hear lots of good comments and lots of bad comments. I've had it for about 7 months, so here are my comments.
- Top heavy, yes. I placed a folded town under it and the cat's don't push and pull or tip it over.
- Inconsistent feeding and cats reaching up inside of it. The feeder has four paddle sections with six 1/4" wide (I think) "feathers" to control portion size. With the bowl empty I manually turned the feeder (procedure is in the manual) on until the paddles lined up with the front and rear ends of the feed chute. I get pretty accurate feed sizes and the cats can't get past the feeder chute.
- Hard to program. definately yes. keep the manual or trial by error. There is an on-off switch that resets the programming if you bugger up.
- Food size. I use the small cat food 1/4" diameter and less than 1/8" thick. No problems, just have to trial and error to get the feeding size right. Don't trust the auto feeders 1/2 cup measurements.

This is a very good product. It is easy to setup. The 10lb size will feed a large dog for 7-10 days.
It is actually a better way to feed a dog since you can set it to feed up to six times per day rather
than one big feeding per day. We use it in an outside kennel and it seems to be fairly weather proof.
The only problem we had with the feeder was that feeding tray came loose once, so I used tape to keep
it from coming loose again.
It uses three rechargeable D cell batteries and they seem to last quite a long time. I would recommend
this product to anyone.
