We had three dogs; a Bichon Frise, a Shih Tzu, and a miniature Dachshund. The Bichon and Shih Tzu responded within a day or so and hardly barked at all. The Dachshund couldn't have cared less. (he was about 18 months old and could hear fine).

The device definitely works (on our Rat Terrier) but has some drawbacks. Initially I placed it on a counter near our phone/answering machine. When I played the messages it set off the device and our dog started whining. But, remember when our dog starts barking near our sliding glass door, she immediately stops and lately she doesn't bark at all....just whines.
Today, my wife was standing near the sliding door (next to the device) and sneezed. The dog was in another room. The sneeze set off the device and the dog started whining.
Another time the dog was at the other end of the house and I checked the device to make sure the battery was still good, and the dog started whining.
So, there is a lot less barking around our house, and our dog seems completely normal (not abused by the device), so I am satisfied.

Initially I was about to write a glowing review. This thing seemed to work right out the box. Finally had some piece and quite when the dog went outside. But as the weeks went by the dog now just ignores it and barks just as much as ever before. I tried moving it to see if that works. If so, I will up my star level. But for now, this thing is spotty at best and I would say it is a waste of money. My first battery died after only 2 weeks. You definately need a heavy supply of 9 volts on hand to keep thing going.

This product works reasonably well; however, the battery life is fairly short. We hung it in a bush next to our neighbor's fence, directed toward the neighbor's yard. It seemed to decrease the nuisance barking of the neighbor's 4 dachshunds.

I was very excited to find this product as I have a little corgi/pomeranian mix who at night barks at everything and nothing. The first couple of nights it seemed to work, but the batteries died very quickly (2-3 days). I have not replaced the batteries yet to retry and give it another go
