this dehydrator is great. It dries fruit and veggies quickly and uniformly even when I use a lot of trays - I use up to 10. However, you need to be careful not to let any dried pieces fall into the bottom where the fan is b/c if the fan gets jammed, the heating element will burn out - which is what happened to my first one.

Very useful while it lasted, but in less than three years it became set on the highest temp., which scorched my veggies. And some extra trays which I ordered, did not fit well without a lot of fussing because of a slight warp in the screens. I'll risk one more purchase of the product, but if it can't last 5 yrs. min., no more Nesco for me!

This product is every bit as good as our old one that has lasted 15 years! Delivery prompt and priced right!My biggest question was about the size of the trays. I wanted to be sure that they were the same size as our old AH machine, they were! This makes great jerky, dried fruit and leathers. Performs much better than cheaper models. The metal base is a plus!

I have used my dehydrator almost everyday since receiving it. Actually, I missed two days. My family is enjoying everything made in it. Jerky has been flying out of here. I'm in the process of drying peaches, tomatoes, and apples now. All are turning out perfectly. The machine works without a hitch. A pervious customer complained about the noise. However, we do not find it disruptive and watch TV, talk on the phone while it is running. We have an open floorplan kitchen/family room. I expect to use it year round from now on. Going to dry slices of oranges and lemons to use on a Christmas wreath.

I bought this unit to make Beef Jerky. It works well. Nothing fancy, just gets the job done. I also have a 1980's cheapo that someone gave me. It works as well as the Nesco. The main difference is that the Nesco has a temperature adjustment. If you're looking for a dependable dehydrator, I'd recommend it. Order the extra trays, too.
