In response to all the reviews who say this product is noisy: it won't make noise if you use it correctly. Those aren't accurate reviews since the product obviously isn't being used right.
I have this pet fountain and it is practically silent, save for some soft flowing water ambiance, unless it is not filled properly. Yes, it is noisy if there isn't enough water in it so you have to keep the reservoir filled or at least add more water to it when the water level drops-- you can just pour water into the dish. I have four cats and I have to refill the reservoir every two or three days or so or I just refill the dish with more water. They really like this fountain, finding the waterfall intriguing, and it encourages them to drink more. It's been working fine for me for several months now.
I can't really say anything bad about it since it does what it's supposed to. I picked this fountain because of the reservoir so I don't have to refill a water dish every day. It's a little awkward to carry around and clean, but as far as pet fountains go it works fine and looks nice and keeps my cats interested.

The manufacturer "Petmate" changed suppliers and the new pumps are garbage for the initial product I got the pump did not work. When I bought a replacement product after returning the broken product, since I called the manufacturer 800 number they were out of pumps and said return the product to Amazon.
I had to buy a new replacement "Petmate" foruntain, it works but the pump is very noisy and water flow is very "heavy", apparently "Petmate" products once the class of the marketplace are now garbage, there 8oo number offers no help. I have since heard several other people complain about the poor quality pumps and poor customer service at "Petmate" a US company, I believe in Texas.
On the bright side this is my first bad product purchased from AMAZON after 6+ years of shopping with them, they were great about giving credit and emailing a return label. I would recommend and do recommend AMAZON to everyone and hope AMAZON contacts the manufacturer/supplier of this product. I have bought this product before from Amazon and pet stores and it was great it is a shame they now make garbage and have poor customer service.

I bought this product thinking it would provide clean, cool water for my cat day and night. After the first 12 hours, it started to make loud gurgling noises. I'd fill up the reservoir which was suddenly empty, and just put it down to hot weather evaporating it, and my cat drinking more than I thought. I couldn't sleep at night from the noise which would start again minutes after I'd refilled it.
I eventually noticed that the unit was leaking...everywhere. It wouldn't keep any water inside - and I still didn't know where it was leaking from. I unplugged it, and now it's just a bowl.
I just noticed now that the reason I didn't notice the leaked water is because it was going into my floorboards, and now my hardwood floors are all warped. I'm furious and wished I'd have listened to all the bad reviews on Amazon before giving it the benefit of the doubt and buying it anyway.
DO NOT BUY THIS PRODUCT until the design has been completely changed.
I'm taking it back and getting a refund. I don't even want a replacement.

I bought this as a birthday present for my cat as he loves water and I thought a fountain would make him really happy. Well, it does make my cat happy but not me. Why?
1. The fountain leaks, they molded stainless steel decorations on it, and the screw holes allow water to leak through the unit. At first I used a towel, but the next day the towel was soaked through. Then, I put a platic tray underneath it and the next morning the whole tray was full of water.
2. It is not whisper quiet. It sounds like a cheap aquarium pump. It is loud enough to hear at night 2 rooms away with the door closed.
3. Construction was shoddy, there is no reason why this thing should leak water, WOW was a letdown!
4. At least my cat likes it. The noise doesn't bother him, but since I still need to change the water everyday I am going to return this unit for false advertising and mainly because it leaks.
