I was surprised - our cats are determined, but since I've put it in our garden window, I haven't seen any indication of them being up there - where they were regularaly destroying plants.

I bought one of these from PetSmart to keep the cats off of the counter. I read here on Amazon and from previous buyers how it had the sound and then a spray. So, once the cats learned that the sound was bad, you no longer needed the air. Exactly what I needed.
Well.......... the company figured this out and removed the warning sound from the product. Now, once your air runs out the product is either USELESS or EXPENSIVE to refill. Sad that the company ruined this product in order to create revenue. The cans of air only last a few days with my cats... sorry I am not paying about 10$ per can for a couple cans of air a week (20$ a week!!). This would come out to be 80$ a month or more just for ONE of these around the house. And I was hoping to have a few... not anymore.
Shame on this company for trying to make more profit on an already expensive item. Avoid at all costs (or you will be PAYING for it)!

As noted, these work great, but they are costly (also, the replacement air cans are a rip-off). A scary noise should be emitted by the sensor mechanism when activated; that might make the air can replacement unnecessary.

We've purchased this before but somehow broke it when puttin on a replacement air can. It is totally worth buying again because it startles the cat and he no longer gets up on the kitchen counters. We only set it up for a week or two and now he doesn't get up there. This is a fantastic invention!

My wife's cat decided she wanted to use the bath tub for a second litter box. Nothing we tried to make her stop. We tried scolding and even caught her in the act but she was determined to pee and poo in the tub! That is until we got this kit and placed it in a strategic location. The first night, while we sleeping, little kitty made her move to poo in the tub and the SSSCAT was there to shoo our little brat away. I'm kind of a light sleeper and awoke to the unit hissing away at the feline felon! She was caught completely by surprise and must have froze becuase it sprayed three times before she bolted out of the room. She's tested it a few more times and now stays away from it. The unit does go through batteries and does deplete the canisters pretty quickly but it will work very well if you position it correctly. The motion sensor can be aimed independantly and you can use canned air as a refill. For some reason, the R34A in the canisters makes a better hissing sound than canned air.
I recomend you take your cat to the vet whenever their toilet habits change.
