Unfortunately I was sick and didn't use this within the time frame to have been able to return it. I installed all 8 AA batteries, waited till the dark of night & turned it on. Well, there was the definite odor of urine but it did not show the yellow color using the light that one is supposed to see. I finally went to a pee pad in another room that I knew had urine on it and after careful inspection could just barely make out an extremely dull yellow in that area. It was a waste of money and I feel foolish having bought it, let alone not have been able to use it earlier when I could have at least returned it. BTW, there are 3 dogs and 2 male cats which is why I bought the darn thing to begin with. I used to have another urine spotter years ago that was less expensive and you could clearly see the yellow areas on rugs and furniture. For me this was a most disappointing product.

Having some troubles with a sick cat, I needed a blacklight. This product already had good reviews and was priced reasonably. I've no prior experience with this application, but I can say that in darkened rooms this does the job perfectly. It's not bright enough for use in the middle of the day, but in evening or at night, it does just what we need. So now we can find and remove pet stains with this easy to use and affordable blacklight.

So yes, it takes 8 batteries. But it's worth it to purchase something that will work, rather than toss money out buying yourself a black light that Won't work.
This Spot Spotter UV Light will show EVERYTHING, so one is able to clean up spotting and elimate smells. I have two small dogs, and I was shown spots on the carpet with this UV Light that were over 3 years old, and had been shampooed a dozen or more times. Wow! Yes it was gross. I am so glad I bought this item, and believe that everyone with pets should have one, or borrow one. Get it, turn out your lights, and grab your chalk, it's time to clean up!

This product works great! It showed all the stains in the areas I knew about and several I didn't know about (from the previous owner's cat I believe). The pet stains will glow in a dim room, but they will be much brighter in a completely dark room at night. Overall, I'm very happy with the purchase and would recommend to others.

We have two dogs under 18 months old so we have been doing a lot of housebreaking in the past months. I always used a special cleaner for the "accidents" and I thought I got them cleaned up pretty good. WOW--when I turn on this light and saw what was missed it was a little scary. I cleaned the entire carpet after I tried the light the first time and now I use it to double check after cleaning up any messes.
