In the Stairway Gate Installation Kit (Model K12), KidCo has assembled the materials and fasteners necessary to properly install any child safety gate to stairway banisters, without drilling into your expensive, decorative wood.
One kit is required for each side of the gate that is being mounted to a banister; and only the most basic tools are needed to assemble any good child safety gate.
For use at the top or bottom of stairs with hardware or pressure mount gates. The hardware is designed to fit square posts 2 1/2in - 3 5/8in wide or use the included insert for round post installation.

I purchased this gate to keep the dog from creeping downstairs and scratching endlessly on my door in the mother-daughter house I share with my daughter. I love my grand-dog but when we were both at work she would scratch at my door trying to get into see "grandma" and she pretty much destroyed the wood on my doorjamb. SO, before I got the doorjamb replaced, I needed a top of the stairs gate to deter her from doing it again! This gate, along with the installation kit to fit it onto the wrought iron railing, did the trick! It was easy to install and a breeze to operate and has made my life much more pleasant! Thank you.

First I purchased a top-of-stairs gate that was to attach to my woodwork without damage. I found that the gate hinge was too tall to install under our banister AND it required that I put holes in our wood - so I bought this kit (and a shorter gate). The kit is just right! There are no holes in our woodwork, I could trim it to fit under the banister, and I installed it myself quite easily. The kit also made a secure connection, so there is no wobbling. I immediately bought another kit to install the first (too tall) gate on our back stairs without damaging our wood (and threw away the pieces that came with the gate). And, by the way, installing the gates is a lot harder than this kit! I definitely recommend this product.

Purchased this stairway gate installation kit after looking at a number of different systems to attach to banister posts on both sides of my stairs. I did not have an even surface to screw into on either side and was less than enthusiastic about creating holes in the posts. This solution seemed to be the most elegant of all that I looked at. Although a bit pricey, I am extremely happy with the product. Installation was easy despite relatively weak directions. Spacers were included in the kit that allow getting the vertical wood strip exactly perpendicular, just took a couple of minutes to figure out they snap to the wood strip not the plastic. Once you have the square, wood sides to attach a gate to, I believe any baby gate would work well. Overall, I'm very happy with the product. I could hang on this gate and not move it an inch.

We have a house with a grand staircase opening at the bottom. With this we did not have to drill into either of the posts. Quick to install and very stable so far when our son pulls on it. Seems like it wil work just fine.

I installed this at the top of the bannister to secure the latch for the top of stair EnevFlo Gate. Makes a perfect secure surface to install the latch on.
