The pads are made to be used with the Breeze litter box system and are placed underneath a "grate" that the Breeze litter sits atop. When the cat urinates, rather than the litter soaking up all the wetness, it falls below the grates onto this diaper-like pad. The pad is contained within a plastic box-like piece that is a drawer within the litter box and has sides that surround it.
The pad not only absorbs the odors very well, it appears to contain somekind of gel-like material that that only expands when wet so that it holds the urine inside. Then, when it's time to change the pad, you just grab a small grocery bag, head to the litter box, fold up the pad, and toss it inside...and throw away. No lugging a litter box around to change out the litter. As long as you change it once per week, even with two cats, it shouldn't be soaked if you turn the tray once as per the instructions and you can lift it up via the dry edges and the whole back is dry so you don't actually touch anything with urine on it.
The beauty is that it allows you to go for days without being a slave to the litter box and you never have to dump clumps of litter again. The litter used with this doesn't soak up the urine (only the pads do) so there is no more litter tracking sticking to cat's paws, and clay litter is very bad for cats because, if it gets on their paws and they lick it, it can remain in their systems according to my vet, causing health problems sometimes. So this new litter system keeps the litter in the tray, not their tummies and paws, and that also means I dont get litter stuck to my own feet that has tracked all over the house.
So now all you have to do is throw away this pad once a week and scoop out the #2s only as needed.

I hate to write a review with no negatives as no product is perfect so I'll add that the only problem I found with the Breeze system is that it doesn't change itself. :-)

I have been using this system for the past 7 months and I love it!! My cat is diabetic and uses his box A LOT! The pads are oder free and very easy to change out! I would much rather use this system than Litter... it is not messy at all! The only problem that I am finding is that my local stores are n longer carrying it!!!! WHY???

I absolutely love this product and wished it was readily available in the marketplace. I will continue to use this until it is no longer available. It is more sanitized and convenient changing the litter pads then doing the whole litter box.

These pads are great for the Breeze system. I tried the cheap way out by using house training pads instead. Big mistake. These pads last me a full week with one cat using it.
